Term 4 Week 8 Monday 22nd November
Our Prayer This Week
From the Principal
Dear parents and members of our community,
After the news of the leadership changes in our school and in our network schools next year we are now making plans to ensure that these transitions are done smoothly and successfully. We will welcome Stacey Atkins this year and work with her to enable her to successfully commence leading our school in 2022.
Transition to 2022
We have three foundation students enrolled to commence school in 2022. These students and the staff of the Mortlake Kindergarten will visit us on Tuesday 30th of November to begin our transition program. On this day our senior students going to Mercy will have their Headstart day where they experience secondary school life without the large number of students from our larger feeder schools. The entire school will have its formal transition day on Tuesday 7th of December where all students will move to their new classes for next year.
St Colman's Feast Day
This Wednesday the 24th of November is the feast day of our patron saint, St Colman of Cloyne. We will celebrate the event tomorrow at 11:30am with a liturgy, a BBQ and our annual colour in competition.
Traineeship
At this late stage of the year we have still been unable to secure a trainee for the 2022 school. If you know of a young person looking to take advantage of this opportunity, please contact the school ASAP.
Awards this Week
Congratulations to:-
Work Experience
This week we welcome Claudia Gedye back to St Colman's for work experience and we look forward to hearing how life is progressing since she graduated almost five years ago.
Hooptime
Congratulation to the 5/6 students who participated in the Hooptime Basketball competition at Terang stadium last Wednesday. They had a fun day playing against other schools and both of our teams were undefeated on the day.
Meals on Wheels
Thank you to the St Colman's community members who participated in Meals on Wheels last week. Once again the children loved the opportunity to support the wider community by helping out in this way.
3/4 Camp to Ballarat
Last week our 3/4 students went on school camp to Sovereign Hill with St Thomas'. It was a great success with fun and learning for everyone over the two days. Thank you to our staff and the staff of St Thomas' for making it a valuable part of a very disrupted year.
5/6 Camp
This Thursday 25th and Friday 26th of November the Grade 5/6 students will be on camp together with the children from St Thomas' Terang. On Thursday we will visit Live Wire Park in Lorne for a high ropes adventure and on Friday we will go to 10 pin bowling and mini golf in Warrnambool and surfing in Port Fairy in the afternoon. We are hoping for much better weather by then.
End of Year Celebration
We will celebrate the end of our school year with an evening gathering on Monday the 13th of December at St Colman's church. On this night we will pray together, hold an art show, sing carols, celebrate the graduation of our Grade 6 children, recognise our 2022 student leaders and farewell families and staff who are leaving us. We hope to see all our families at this event.
