Term 3 Week 6 Monday 16th August
Our Prayer This Week
Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary August 15th
From the Principal
Dear parents and members of our community,
The current state of the world and the ever changing way we are living means that school events are constantly being planned and then rescheduled. We will continue to do this as it is vital to provide as many learning and wellbeing opportunities as possible during the pandemic. It is vital that parents stay informed of these changes so we ask that you continue to read the newsletter, check the school calendar, monitor our facebook site and watch for Schoolzine notifications. If all else fails, please contact the school if you are unsure of when an important event will be held.
Foundation 100 days
This Friday 20th August the Foundations will be celebrating 100 Days of School for the year! We will be celebrating this together as a whole school with fun activities and celebration food.
Book Week
Book Week has always been a highlight of our school year and it is planned for next week beginning Monday 23rd to Friday 27th of August. The Book Fair will be set up at school either inside or outside for students and parents to purchase new titles and our dress up day will be on Friday the 27th of August. Have fun planning outfits for the big parade. The theme for this year is "Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds".
St Colman's Olympic Activities Day
Our "Olympic Fun Day" on Friday was a great success with some amazing world records set in dressing up, balloon juggling, beanbag toss, fruit loop stacking and sock folding. The children loved the opportunity of some fun and nonsense. Thanks to Michelle Spokes for bringing in the Olympic torch Lyle used in the 2000 relay. This lead our parade of athletes at the opening ceremony.
Hooptime
Our sports association is trying, once again to run our Hooptime basketball competition on the following dates.
- 5/6 - Wednesday 25th of August
- 3/4 - Friday 3rd of September
There will be a permission form sent home on PAM over the next few weeks so please keep an eye out for this.
Our Weekly Awards
Congratulations to our award winners this week
Middle School Visitor
On Friday the Middle room hosted Marsha the lamb for the day in their classroom. The children cared for, fed and entertained the lamb all day. Thanks Sophie and Charlotte Allen for providing this opportunity, it was a great distraction in a potentially heightened time for the students and the staff.
Bus Notifications on P.A.M
We now have the facility for parents to inform us of changes to bus transport arrangements through P.A.M giving us live information of travel plans. We will produce a "how to" sheet and distribute it to parents this week.
Mercy Discovery Day
Mercy Regional College are planning a "Discovery Day" for current 5/6 students in our network to have a look at the school and experience what they have to offer. This day will be held on Tuesday 24th of August with a backup day of Wednesday 27th of October should restrictions prevent the day. Permission forms will be released shortly.
Meals on Wheels
We are rostered on for Meals on Wheels next week beginning 23rd August. If you are able to volunteer for one or more days, please complete the attached survey.
