Term 3 Week 2 Monday 19th July
Our Prayer This Week
From the Principal
Dear parents and members of our community,
Well, here we go again! The pleasing thing is that we are becoming familiar with what is needed to begin remote learning each time and the students are comfortable with what is expected of them at this time. We will conduct our video conference sessions at the same times again:-
Junior - 9am
Middle - 9:30am
Senior - 10am
Just a reminder to keep the school work brief and interesting and focus on the wellbeing of all members of your household at this time.
Book Club
Today is our final day to order books through book club. We have now completed the transition from paper based ordering to using the online facility to order books through scolastic. If you have any difficulty with this task, please contact the school.
School Closure Days
In previous years St Colman's has chosen Sheepvention as our public instead of the designated Moyne Shire holiday. We are now required to take Warrnambool race day as our holiday however, as this day has passed, we will have the 2021 Sheepvention date of August 2nd this year and move to race day next year.
We have 4 days throughout the year to use as curriculum days to develop staff capacity. We will use Monday 16th of August to join with the other schools in the Hampden network to work on teaching scripture in our RE lessons.
We will use Thursday 19th of August to participate in a literacy day in Warrnambool so there will be no school for students for both of these days.
Staff Leave
Jane will be on leave for this week and will not return to St Colman's on Monday 26th of July.
Jenny is now on leave from last Thursday to Friday the 6th of August.
Sacramental Program
Last year with our extended lockdown, our sacramental program for initiation into the Catholic Church did not take place. Our cycle was up to Confirmation for the Grade 2 & 3 students wishing to participate. To catch up, we will offer this sacrament to the Grade 2, 3 & 4 students this year. There will be four after school sessions early next term and the ceremony will be held on Sunday 5th of September. We will contact each family to confirm their intention to participate.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Our preferred mode for Parent/Teacher interviews is face-to-face but if this lockdown is extended this week, we may need to conduct these conversations online instead. We planned to meet this Wednesday 21st of July but we doubt all will be back to normal for additional people on site even if students resume. We will keep you informed of developments.
Trivia Night
We have rescheduled out Trivia Night to Friday 30th July 2021, however this will be highly dependent on the health status of the state at this time.
Tri Sports
The Tri Sports last Tuesday was a great opportunity for our children to compete in either football or netball against schools from across our region. Our combined football team with St Thomas' came 3rd in their competition and our two netball teams came 2nd in their events. We are glad to have squeezed this in before lockdown.
