Term 2 Week 9 Monday 8th June
Our Prayer This Week
From the Principal
Dear parents, guardians and students,
Woo Hoo!! We finally are able to welcome the Senior students back to school to recommence onsite learning and we are delighted to see their smiling faces. Thank you to our parents for the sensational job you have done over the past 11 weeks with the added responsibility of remote learning. We are aware that there will be a readjustment time to begin with before we settle back into the familiar routine of school. We are conscious also, of one of our families who will continue remote learning due to health concerns and we pray that they stay safe and well in this additional time.

Welcome Back Video
Principals of the Ballarat diocese have created a video to say welcome back and thank you to parents for the wonderful job of remote learning. The sentiments expressed are genuine but some of the acting is very questionable.
Home Schooling
The Draffen family have decided to continue to stay at home and recommence Home Schooling for the remainder of this term. This decision will be reviewed in term 3 for the remainder of the school year. We wish the every success with this challenge.
Head Lice
There have been some cases of head lice in the school so we are asking all parents to check their children’s' hair and treat any cases immediately. This ongoing problem can only be addressed if all families participate in this treatment to prevent further spread.
Google Hangouts
During isolation we utilised Google Hangouts to help connect remote learners to school and one another. Normally this function is like all other social media platforms and is not available to children under 14 years of age. Now that we are back at school this function has been turned off for all students except our remote learners. Thank you for supervising the children with this function while they were at home.
Home Learning and School Reports
With such a variety of circumstances and approaches to remote learning during isolation we will not be reporting on student learning this term. It is still a CECV requirement that all schools generate a report for each individual student so we will provide a very abridged version of a normal report at the end of this term. We will hold Parent/Teacher interviews early in term 3 when there is further relaxing of restrictions so that we can discuss progress and plan for the rest of the year.
It is part of our normal procedure to hold an assessment prior to each unit of work so the progress each child has made at home will be identified and this will be taken into account when providing lessons for their individual needs.
Classroom Awards
Congratulation to our award winners this week in the Junior and Middle classrooms.
A Budding Artist
On Friday Archie took the opportunity to practice some street art skills by creating a chalk drawing on our concrete path. Well done Archie on your creativity.
SAC Meeting
We are holding our School Advisory Council meeting this Wednesday the 10th of June at 7pm in the Senior classroom. We look forward to seeing all of our council members tomorrow night.
Governance Change
The process for changing the governance of Catholic schools in the Ballarat Dioceses is proceeding despite the isolation lockdown over the past 11 weeks. Each parish priest will very soon sign over the governance of their schools to a company called Dioceses of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited (DOBCEL). This new company is explained clearly in the link below. This needs to be completed by 1st January 2021 and because it is a lengthy process, we have already begun the initial steps of confirming our registration and community consaltation. We will keep tou informed as each stage of the process is complete.
School Farm
Our new ducklings have settled quickly into the school farm and are growing quickly. We are also looking for some animals to put into the school farm now that our neighbour has removed his sheep. If you can help, please contact the school.
