Term 2 Week 1 Monday 19th April
Our Prayer This Week
From the Principal
Dear parents and members of our community,
Welcome back to school for the beginning of Term 2. It is great to see the smiling faces of the children back at school today and we are looking forward to hearing about their holiday adventures. I am recovering well and will be attending school this week in a graduated return beginning with two half days on Monday and Tuesday.
ANZAC Day Returns
The Mortlake community and the St Colman's school community will have the opportunity to pay their respects to those who served their country with Anzac Day services open to the public for the first time since 2019. Staff, students and parents will gather at the Post Office at 10am on Sunday the 25th of April for the parade to the memorial and an official ceremony. Our school leaders will lay a wreath at the shrine. Students attending are asked to wear their school uniform on the day.
We are hoping for a collection of poppies and badges to come to the school this week for families to purchase to support our local RSL.
Athletics Team
Well done to the students who represented St Colman's/St Thomas' at the District sports last term. They gave it their all, and came away with some great results. Congratulations to Noah M, Billie and Ava who have made it into the Division Aths in Warrnambool on Friday the 7th of May. Noah and Billie will be competing in Triple Jump and Ava in Shot Put. Thanks to the parents, grandparents and even great grandparents that came to cheer them on.
Safety Award
Each term The HCSN schools present an award to a student who has displayed awareness of safety around our school and last term this was presented to Johno Carmody in the Senior room. Well done Johno and enjoy spending your $20 voucher at the Terang Co-op.
Major Raffle and Trivia Night
The School Advisory Council has decided to run an online raffle as our major fundraiser for 2021. The raffle will be launched at the end of April and will be drawn at our Trivia Night on Friday 18th June. This year we will not be conducting a silent auction but will be asking local businesses to donate vouchers for prizes for the Trivia Night.
The raffle tickets will be $25 each and the total prize pool will be valued at $4,500. First Prize is a $3ooo voucher, compliments of Scott's Betta Home Living, Second Prize is a $1000 Debit Card to be spent at local businesses, compliments of Acciona and Third Prize is a $500 voucher, compliments of Bates IGA Supermarket. All school families will be asked to sell as many tickets as possible to family and friends. We will be relying on your support to make this fundraiser a success. WE PLAN TO DISTRIBUTE TICKET INFORMATION DURING NEXT WEEK.
