Acknowledgement of Country
St Colman’s acknowledges the Girai wurung people as the traditional owners of the land on which our school stands and we respectfully recognise elders both past and present.
Our Prayer this Week
Let us Pray
Holy Spirit,
Help us to be there for the people who need us.
There for the young, the elderly and the vulnerable.
There for those in need and those who are struggling.
Help us to be ready and open to loving all people.
Amen
From the Principal
Dear Families,
What a pleasure it was to take the Grade 5/6 students on camp last week. After 2 years of changed plans and ammended programs, it was great to have an uninterrupted experience. Every child should be proud of how they embraced the experience.
Recently I have become aware that many past students of St Colman's keep in touch with what we are up to via this newsletter. A special shout out to Pat McAloon who is one of those people. If you're an old scholar of St Colman's we'd love to hear from you!
Kind regards,
Stacey
Remembrance Day November 11
On Friday, we commemorate Remembrance Day. To mark this occasion, our Grade 6 leaders will attend the Mortlake service and lay a wreath on behalf of our school.
The children at school will also mark the occasion with a minutes silence.
We have Poppies and other items available to purchase at school for $2, $3, $4, $5 and $10.
Grampians Retreat- Grade 5/6 Camp
What a great adventure we all had on the Grade 5/6 Camp.
The chilly, wet and muddy conditions did not stop anyone as we hiked, jumped, painted, explored and made new friends at Grampian's Retreat. It was a pleasure to spend the 3 days with all of the students. The students grit, determination and willingness to try new things was outstanding. However, equally important was their support of each other, their willingness to help out and their impeccable manners. Well done students.
A big thank you to Mrs Rosie O'Connor, Mr Matt Uzkuratis, Ms Anna Patterson and Ms Ella Pekin whom I worked with on the camp.
Gymnastics
Over the next 3 Wednesday our Wednesday PE lessons will be taking place at Springers Gynmastics in Warrnambool. We will travel down prior to 11am and return around 2pm, with students having the opportunity to participate in a 45 minute gymnastics session.
This activity is partially funded by a Sport Schools Grant that we have gained to help support our involvement in different types of sports.
Lions Eye Health Program
Next Tuesday, the Lions Club of Warrnambool will be conducting eye screening at school. This is a free service.
This screening program helps to identify children with eye concerns that require further investigation. A permission note and further information will be distributed in the coming days.
More information can be found at the following website lehp.org.au
Happy Birthday
A very happy birthday to Mrs Rosie O'Connor who celebrates a significant birthday this weekend. Birthday wishes also go to Sadie and Archie this week.
